Information:
Rebecca Bunnell is a 1st Grade Lead Teacher. She is native Texan and a graduate of TCU where she earned a degree in Early Childhood/Special Education. Upon graduation, Bunnell taught special education at Frazier Elementary and tutored struggling readers at Alice Carlson Applied Learning Center. Then, Bunnell moved to Atlanta, GA where she taught first grade for four years at Atlanta Youth Academy, a private school for inner-city children. She was voted Teacher of the Year in 2008 and selected for the Klingenstein Summer Fellowship through Columbia University in 2009. During the summer of 2010, Bunnell tutored young refugees that were recently relocated to Georgia. With the collaboration of Westminster Schools and the Glen Institute, Bunnell has developed and implemented first grade curriculum that promotes community service learning and encourages students to make meaningful connections beyond the classroom. She enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with friends! Bunnell is excited about joining the KIPP family as a first grade teacher.
