Emily Siguler

Reading Interventionist/Spanish Teacher

Information:
Emily Siguler is the Reading Interventionist and Spanish teacher at KIPP Philadelphia Elementary Academy. After graduating from Georgetown University with a BA in Spanish, Emily joined Teach for America Phoenix. For two years she taught first grade at Morris K. Udall Escuela de Bellas Artes in the Isaac School District. While living in Phoenix Emily earned her M.Ed. in Elementary Education from Arizona State University. She quickly discovered that her passion was teaching reading to young learners. It was her students’ tremendous reading growth that inspired her to move across the country and pursue her M.A. in Literacy from Columbia University Teachers College. While at Teachers College, Emily spent her summer teaching 3rd and 4th grade reading in Harlem RBI’s REAL Kids program. Originally from the small Western Massachusetts town of Conway, Emily now lives in Philadelphia with her fiancé Langdon who is attending Wharton Business School. Her interests include sailing, biking and hiking. Emily is thrilled to bring her experiences working with inner city youth and her passion for Spanish and reading to KPEA. Every child has enormous potential so every child deserves an excellent education.
